RMN Foundation Schools for Underprivileged Children

Introduction

RMN Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to work for the upliftment of underprivileged people of our society. It strives to build sustainable resources to allow the disadvantaged to stand up with full dignity and join the mainstream.

The current focus of its activities, however, is on children, as the Foundation believes that the key is in the hands of children to make this world a better place to live. And because of their inherent innocence, children can be easily groomed to become future leaders who can, in turn, help millions of other people.

Although RMN Foundation has started its campaign from India, it will extend its reach across the world, at all places where it is required to serve.

To meet its literacy-related objectives, the Foundation has planned to set up educational centers all over the country and abroad to impart free education to poor and abandoned children including orphans.

About the Schools

The planned schools will be resident facilities to adopt and educate the target group of children. The aim of the education will be to empower them to compete anywhere in the world and become future leaders particularly in the business domains.

The education system in these schools will be totally innovative and unconventional with focus on practical aspects and skills that are required in the modern-day business world.

These schools will apply the latest information technology extensively to strengthen the education systems and provide the right technology orientation to children.

Objectives of Schools

In general, the objectives will always be dynamic to optimally utilize the resources in hand. However, the schools will work to achieve the following macro objectives:

• To provide the best possible basic education to the children
• To give them contemporary career orientation
• To help them become part of the organizational setup, which is based on an innovative “enterprise clustering model” developed by our Foundation
• To provide them employment immediately after completing their education at these schools
• To help them build their families
• To encourage them for replicating the model at different locations in India and all across the world

Infrastrcture

The school buildings will mostly be established in remote areas or villages for cost factors and because most needy candidates will be in these unattended locations. However, some schools can also be set up in urban areas.

The school buildings will include hostels for children where they will live for the entire education and work process lifecycles. The infrastructure will include living rooms, class rooms, dispensaries, playgrounds, labs, transport, etc.

Although these schools will take services from volunteers, manpower resources will also be hired for certain specialized tasks.

Funds

Initially, the funds will be raised through resources including from friends, charity organizations, or government bodies. These initial funds will be utilized to set up the schools. Once the schools are running, they will tend to become sustainable by commercializing their products and services, which may include books publishing and selling in the open market, multimedia edutainment content, research reports on children’s education and growth, etc. Moreover, donations from individuals, companies, and governments will also support the operations of these schools.

When the schools will reach the “enterprise clustering state,” with qualified children, they will start earning by offering their own products and services in the open market. The “enterprise clustering model” is aimed to make these schools self-sustainable by creating small business units run by the qualified students/people trained at these schools.

Plan and Need

It is planned to build each school on an area of about one acre (4840 Square Yards) covering classrooms, labs, hostels, faculty houses, guest rooms, playgrounds, etc. Each school will accommodate about 100 students. More area and augmented infrastructure will be required to accommodate more students at each school.

We plan to create 100 such schools in India and another 50 such schools in other parts of the world by the year 2015.

At this stage, we need financial and/or infrastructure support for land, building, equipment, manpower, etc.
