GENEVA – The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has announced a global search for innovative startups leveraging artificial intelligence to tackle the world’s most pressing educational challenges. As part of the AI for Good Innovation Factory, a premier UN-based pitching and acceleration platform, a specialized session titled “Meet the top startups leveraging AI to improve learning and upskilling” is scheduled for March 17, 2026.

The competition is open to startups utilizing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced algorithms to enhance access, inclusivity, and quality in education. Organizers are particularly interested in solutions capable of delivering high-quality learning to remote areas and those redefining traditional teaching methodologies to create a lasting global impact.

Key Competition Details and Deadlines: Startups interested in participating must submit their applications by February 27, 2026. The live pitching session will take place online from 17:00 to 18:00 CEST, providing a global stage for innovators to present their solutions to a panel of expert judges, including Malvika Bhagwat, Partner and Head of Outcomes at Owl Ventures.

Rewards for Innovation: The rewards for the winning startup are designed to scale their impact significantly. The winner will receive:

  • An official ticket to the AI for Good Innovation Factory Grand Finale at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva.
  • A Speaker Pass and a dedicated startup pod at the 2026 Summit to showcase their technology.
  • Exclusive access to the Innovation Factory Startup Accelerator Programme 2026 and the Alumni Network.
  • Direct mentoring from judges and networking opportunities with UN agencies and potential business partners.

The AI for Good Innovation Factory serves as a vital bridge for entrepreneurs, helping them connect with funding, expert mentorship, and media exposure to scale AI-powered solutions for global challenges. This education-focused event is part of a broader series of monthly sessions leading up to the Grand Finale in Geneva, which will also feature startups specializing in robotics, agrifood systems, and healthcare.

By fostering these technological advancements, the ITU and its partners aim to ensure that the future of learning is not only advanced but accessible to all, regardless of geographic or economic barriers.
