Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the establishment of a ₹1,000 crore fund dedicated to supporting startups in Telangana, urging founders to utilize the capital. Speaking at the inauguration of the Google for Startups (GfS) hub at T-Hub in Hyderabad on Wednesday (December 10), the Chief Minister expressed his ambition to see Hyderabad become a base not just for new companies, but for unicorns.
CM Reddy set an aggressive target for the state’s entrepreneurial growth, stipulating that at least 100 startups originating from Hyderabad must achieve unicorn status, with a minimum of 10 growing into super unicorns by 2034. To meet these goals, he encouraged entrepreneurs to concentrate specifically on product-based and innovation-led ventures.
The CM, accompanied by IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, launched the GfS hub, which is the first facility of its kind in India. Revanth stated that the partnership between the state government and Google is intended to build a comprehensive support system for young companies, emphasizing a collaborative effort “to create an ecosystem that succeeds”. He referenced Google’s own history, noting its rise from a 1998 garage startup to a global corporation.

These startup goals align with the state’s long-term economic strategy, which was discussed at the Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit. The state aims to become a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.
The new GfS hub is designed to bolster Telangana’s startup ecosystem by providing Google-branded space. Through the hub, Google will work with regional startups, providing specific benefits such as free, year-long coworking seats for selected AI-led firms and access to a panel of venture investors.
Drawing a comparison between business and sports, CM Reddy offered a motivational analogy, stating: “Startups are like football. You have to work hard and play as a team. Winning matters in the end.” He highlighted how global giants like Apple, Amazon, Tesla, and Facebook grew from small beginnings into billion-dollar firms within two decades, while also noting the established growth of Hyderabad-based companies in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and software services over the last 25 years.
